The Asinara National Park is one of the most fascinating and evocative destinations in Northern Sardinia.
Located between the Sardinian Sea to the west, the Corsican Sea to the north, and the Gulf of Asinara to the east, the Asinara National Park is separated from the small Isola Piana to the south by the Strait of Fornelli. It belongs to the municipality of Porto Torres (SS), covering an area of 52 square kilometers and is uninhabited.
The island, morphologically mountainous, features rugged coastlines, beaches, coves, and Mediterranean scrub. Due to human activity, it is sparsely wooded and lacks lakes and watercourses. Regulated access allows visits only with authorized operators.

The Asinara Prison was active until 1998 and became a National Park and Marine Protected Area in 2002. The first structure, Fornelli, was followed by other agricultural penal colonies, such as the one in Cala D’Oliva. During the Years of Lead, the prison hosted members of the Red Brigades, and judges Falcone and Borsellino stayed in Cala D’Oliva. Among the most notable inmates was the Camorra boss Raffaele Cutolo. Nicknamed “The Second Alcatraz,” it had only one escape in 112 years, that of Matteo Boe.
The Austro-Hungarian Ossuary of 1936, requested by the Austrian government, contains the remains of about 7048 Austro-Hungarian soldiers from World War I, preserved in 18 display cases.
The Austro-Hungarian Chapel, built by prisoners of war during World War I, was transformed into a church around 1950.

Cala d’Oliva: Abandoned village, where you can visit the central branch and the bunker of Totò Riina. Cala Barche Napoletane: Beach with fine light sand and posidonia. Cala del Turco: Cove with a pebble beach, colorful cliffs, and Mediterranean scrub. Cala del Bianco: Rocky beach with little white sand and clear sea. Cala Sabina: Clear sea, magnificent seabed, and soft beach. Cala Sant’Andrea: Enchanting beach, Corsican gull nesting area, access prohibited. Cala d’Arena: Beach with pink sand, access prohibited, Caretta-Caretta turtle nesting area. Asinara Prison: Active until 1998, became a National Park in 2002. Il capitano Gabriele nonostante la giovane età ci ha spiegato tutto sull’ Asinara in maniera impeccabile , portato nelle più belle calette

Splendida esperienza - Bellissima esperienza su Jacaranda con lo skipper Gabriele che oltre ad averci accompagnato in splendidi spot ci ha regalato tante nozioni interessanti sulla storia dell'Asinara e deliziato il palato con un ottimo aperitivo e pranzo a base di pesce, accompagnato da un buon vino, caffè e dolce finale. Abbiamo avuto la possibilità di immergerci in un mare bellissimo e protetto, circondati dai pesci, con tanto di avvistamento di un esemplare di tonno e una coppia di delfini. Tappa finale davanti alla spiaggia della Pelosa. Consigliatissimo!
